Dispatcher | $17-$20/hour

Monday-Friday | 8am-5pm

A Sioux City area Towing company is currently seeking 2 highly organized and proactive Dispatchers to join our transportation operations team. The Dispatcher will play a vital role in coordinating the efficient movement of freight and vehicles, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining seamless communication between drivers, clients, and internal departments. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic logistics environment where precision, communication, and problem-solving are essential. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, technical proficiency with transportation management systems, and excellent communication abilities to support our fleet management and supply chain operations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule vehicle dispatches using transportation management systems and vehicle dispatch software to optimize routes and delivery times.
• Communicate effectively with drivers, clients, and internal teams via multi-line phone systems and phone call management tools to provide updates and resolve issues promptly.
• Monitor GPS and GIS data to track vehicle locations, ensure compliance with DOT regulations, and adjust plans as necessary for efficiency.
• Manage freight shipments by coordinating shipping and receiving activities while adhering to safety standards and logistics protocols.
• Maintain accurate data entry within transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine for tracking shipments, vehicle statuses, and delivery schedules.
• Support supply chain activities by assisting with route planning, transportation planning, and fleet management tasks.
• Handle internal communication channels to relay critical information quickly, ensuring smooth road transportation operations.
• Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries professionally while maintaining phone etiquette during high-volume periods.
• Assist in compliance with DOT regulations through proper documentation and adherence to safety standards.
• Collaborate with third-party logistics providers (3PL) to coordinate freight movements efficiently.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in dispatching within the transportation or logistics industry; familiarity with road transportation operations is preferred.
• Proficiency in transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or similar platforms.
• Strong understanding of GPS technology, GIS mapping tools, and vehicle tracking systems.
• Knowledge of supply chain processes, freight handling, shipping & receiving procedures, and fleet management practices.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills for phone call management, internal communication, and customer interactions.
• Ability to analyze data related to transportation planning and logistics operations for continuous improvement.
• Familiarity with DOT regulations governing vehicle operation and safety standards.
• Competency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel for data entry and analysis; typing skills are essential.
• Experience working with multi-line phone systems, transportation management software like SyteLine or Oracle TMS, and vehicle dispatch software is highly desirable.
