Position SummaryThe Underground Foreman is responsible for leading and supervising underground utility crews performing installation of water mains, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, force mains, and related underground infrastructure. This role serves as the working field leader for the crew and is responsible for coordinating labor, equipment, safety, production, and quality on underground utility projects. The Underground Foreman is expected to have advanced knowledge of underground utility installation practices and provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to Pipe Layers, Operators, Laborers, and other field personnel while maintaining project schedules and safety expectations.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and supervise underground crews on active construction projectsCoordinate daily crew activities, productivity goals, equipment usage, and manpower needsOversee installation of water mains, sanitary sewer systems, storm sewer systems, force mains, utility structures, valves, hydrants, etc.Read and interpret blueprints, utility plans, grade stakes, cut sheets, and specificationsEnsure pipe installation meets line and grade requirementsCoordinate trenching, pipe laying, bedding, backfill, compaction, and testing operationsMonitor excavation activities and ensure trench safety requirements are followedPerform daily jobsite planning and communicate work expectations to crewsConduct/Complete and enforce daily JSAs, and company safety proceduresCoordinate with Superintendents, Project Managers, Surveyors, Inspectors, subcontractors, and suppliersMonitor crew productivity and maintain production schedulesEnsure quality workmanship and compliance with project specifications and standardsTrain and mentor Pipe Layers, Laborers, and OperatorsMaintain organized, clean, and safe work areasEnforce company policies, attendance expectations, and professional conduct standardsAssist with scheduling deliveries, materials, and project logisticsSupport emergency repairs or schedule-driven work when necessaryOther duties as assigned.Qualifications4+ years of underground utility construction experience preferredPrevious experience as a Lead Pipe Layer and OperatorStrong understanding of underground utility installation methods and sequencingAbility to read and interpret plans, profiles, and grade informationKnowledge of OSHA excavation and trench safety requirementsOSHA Competent PersonExperience with pipe lasers, grades, and utility elevations preferredStrong leadership, communication, and organizational skillsAbility to manage crews and coordinate multiple operations simultaneouslyValid driver's license required; CDL preferredEquipment operation experiencePhysical RequirementsAbility to work outdoors in varying weather conditionsAbility to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb throughout the workdayAbility to lift up to 50 pounds occasionallyAbility to enter trenches and navigate active construction sites safelyAbility to work extended hours and weekends as project demands require#J-18808-Ljbffr
