Job Description (Project Overview)
We are seeking a Data Engineer to support a growing data and analytics function within a Property & Casualty insurance environment. This role will play a critical part in building, maintaining, and optimizing ETL pipelines that ingest and transform data from Guidewire and other enterprise systems into modern data platforms.
This position is instrumental in continuing momentum after a recent Guidewire implementation, ensuring continuity and enhancement of data capabilities as external consulting support transitions off the project. The Data Engineer will work closely with a small, collaborative team to improve data accessibility, enable analytics, and support informed business decision-making across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL pipelines across multiple source systems, including Guidewire
- Migrate and integrate data into modern cloud-based platforms such as Snowflake and Azure environments
- Implement data controls, validation processes, and governance standards to ensure data quality and reliability
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver actionable data insights
- Optimize data flows and performance within data lake and analytics environments
- Contribute to building scalable data architecture that supports reporting and analytics initiatives
- Partner with leadership and junior engineers in a small, agile team environment
Project Initiatives & Impact- Support post-Guidewire implementation efforts by stabilizing and enhancing data pipelines
- Enable self-service analytics and reporting capabilities for business users
- Modernize data infrastructure through cloud-based data lake and warehouse solutions
- Improve organizational data accessibility and decision-making through clean, reliable pipelines
- Establish foundational data controls and governance practices for long-term scalability
Required Qualifications- 2+ years of experience in Data Engineering or a similar role
- Hands-on experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes
- Experience working with Snowflake and/or data lake technologies
- Familiarity with Azure cloud services and Databricks
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment
- Comfortable working in a smaller team with high visibility and ownership
- Must be located within a commutable distance to Sioux City, IA for occasional onsite needs
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship (now or in the future)
- Master's degree required
Preferred Qualifications- Experience within the insurance or financial services industry
- Exposure to Guidewire data or similar enterprise systems
- Experience implementing data quality and governance controls
Additional Details- 37.5-hour work week (Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM CST)
- Hybrid work environment with occasional in-person collaboration as needed

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $55.00 - $75.00/hr.
