Full-Time Transcription & Redaction Specialist

The City of Sioux City Police Department is offering an exciting opportunity to transcribe daily police dictation as a Full-Time Transcription & Redaction Specialist.

The position requires a thorough and complete knowledge of word processing, software and related practices. Qualified candidates must possess strong typing and grammar skills as well as the ability to work independently.

The City offers competitive wages, and the position is eligible for our great pension plan through Iowa Public Employees' Retirement System (IPERS).

Scheduled Hours - Monday-Friday, 8:00 to 4:30

Our employees are required to reside within (30) thirty miles of the City of Sioux City limits which extends to other states: Nebraska and South Dakota.

Special requirements:

• Must include a copy of a certified typing test demonstrating a speed of at 50 words per minute.
• Only typing tests taken within the (12) twelve months prior to the end of the application period are accepted.
• Eligibility requires a passing score on the Civil Service Test

Walk-ins available for the testing, but you are required to register for an IowaWORKS.gov account if you don't already have one. Registering for IowaWORKS before coming to their office can speed up the testing time.
