Summary

The General Manager is responsible for the overall performance of NextBeam's Facility #1, with full accountability for safety, quality, efficiency, and people. Leading a team of approximately 30 employees today and growing over time, the GM will deliver against key operational metrics — including plant efficiency, throughput, and quality (with a particular focus on minimizing nonconformances) — while building a strong, capable team. This is a hands-on role: the GM is expected to spend the majority of their time on the floor, developing an intimate understanding of our operation, unique equipment/systems, and the team that delivers for our customers every day. Over time, the successful GM will be the primary driver of both plant-level metric delivery and continuous improvement. This role will report to NextBeam's CEO.

Essential Duties
  • Own delivery of the plant's key operational metrics, including efficiency, on-time delivery, cost, and quality, with specific emphasis on reducing nonconformances and driving root-cause corrective action.

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of 30 employees today, scaling to approximately 45 as the operation grows; set clear performance expectations and hold the team accountable to them.

  • Spend the majority of working hours on the production floor, directly engaging with operators, supervisors, and support staff to understand issues firsthand and remove obstacles in real time.

  • Develop and maintain an intimate, detailed understanding of every aspect of the operation — equipment, processes, materials, workflows, and customer requirements.

  • Attract, retain, and promote key talent; build a bench of capable supervisors and technical leads, and create development paths that keep strong performers engaged.

  • Champion a strong safety culture and ensure full compliance with all applicable health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

  • Partner with quality, engineering, supply chain, and commercial functions to ensure customer commitments are met and that the plant operates as an integrated whole.

  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, applying structured problem-solving and operational discipline to improve performance year over year.

  • Manage the plant's operating budget and capital plan, and make sound trade-offs between short-term performance and long-term capability.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in an engineering or scientific discipline.

  • Minimum of 8 years of direct management responsibility, including managing supervisors and leading teams through measurable performance improvement.

  • Demonstrated experience operating a manufacturing plant (preferably in the local area), with an understanding of how to work with the local labor market, supplier base, and regulatory agencies.

  • Track record of delivering operational results — efficiency, quality, and on-time performance — in a hands-on, floor-focused leadership style.

  • Proven ability to attract, develop, and retain talent at both the operator and supervisor levels.

  • Strong communication skills and the credibility to lead across the shop floor, the front office, and with customers.

  • Ability and desire to learn new technical skills at a manager level: e.g. Electron Beam accelerators and supporting systems.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with E-Beam processing or comparable specialized manufacturing technology.

  • Formal training in continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent).

  • Experience scaling a plant's headcount and capability through a period of growth.

  • Prior P&L ownership or significant budget accountability.

Benefits Offered:

We offer excellent benefit packages and employee programs including paid time off, paid holidays, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, FSA or HSA, 401k with Company match, EAP, employee discounts, and a casual work environment with excellent career development opportunities.
