The General Manager is responsible for coordinating, directing, leading, guiding, and managing the plant consistent with company policies and procedures as well as with federal, state, and local law. Will be accountable for the management and safety of employees, high quality safe products being produced, budgeting and the profitability of the facility. This role will be responsible for overseeing the coordination and shipping schedules to meet market demand for products produced. This role will also be responsible for margin management, continuous improvement, maintenance and engineering and operations. Will work closely with the FSQA team to ensure quality and food safety standards are met. Will work closely with Human Resources and production teams in hiring and training staff.

Bachelor's degree in a related field (agriculture, animal science or business) plus ten years of plant experience or the combination of education and experience that enables performance in all aspects of the position, including supervisory experience. Well-developed management skills utilizing sound management principles in leading a team of employees.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines.
Ability to read and interpret documents in the English language such as safety files, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must be able to effectively communicate with USDA, production and management personnel.
Ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Ability to use computers and all standard programs used by the industry and the ability to learn and effectively use all other computer programs that are or will be made available.
In the absence of the General Manager, the Operations Director will assume responsibilities for overseeing food safety and quality assurance programs.
