SUMMARY: The Utility Custodian will be responsible for maintaining the housekeeping of the Seaboard Triumph Foods Plant inside and outside. This position will be responsible for preparing, finishing, and applying paints, stains, and coatings to interior and exterior surfaces, ensuring high quality results and client satisfaction.
Hours are Sunday-Thursday from 9am-5:30pm. MUST HAVE PROFESSIONAL PAINTING BACKGROUND TO BE CONSIDERED.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This list is not intended to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.
- Perform a variety of tasks to prepare and finish surfaces, including cleaning, sanding, scraping, and filling cracks or holes to ensure proper adhesion of paints or coatings
- Mix paints and stains to achieve desired color and texture and apply them using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment
- Install wallpaper, vinyl wall fabrics, or other surface coverings when required
- Perform drywall installation, taping, and texturing when required
- Prepare the job site by covering fixtures, removing old paint, and ensuring surfaces are smooth and ready for finishing
- Maintain painting tools and equipment to ensure proper performance, safety, and following standards to minimize defects while controlling material costs

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations. Compose/develop reports, articles, presentations, or other material which communicate ideas or concepts related to complex or controversial issues. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from maintenance supervisors, workers and employees. Discuss unique or non-recurring issues with others which may involve converting specialized terms into everyday language to ensure understanding.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents in the English language such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to use computers and all standard programs used by the industry and the ability to learn and effectively use any and all other computer programs that are or will be made available.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to move about the facility. The employee is required to sit; use hands to finger; handle; or feel/hold objects; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; speak; hear taste and smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, regularly lift up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, cold/hot temperature, and vibration. The employee may also work in varied environments such as indoors/outdoors, sometimes at heights, or in exposure to weather conditions.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: The hours and days of work are established as needed by operations and at the discretion of management and may be changed (increased or decreased) by management as required.
