Job Title: Production Supervisor

Location: Sioux City, Iowa

Shift: A or B

Reports To: Operations Superintendent

Job Summary:

  • You will supervise production employees on your shift.
  • Make sure production meets quality, cost, and timing standards.
  • Help operators solve problems with machines and production processes.
  • Oversee maintenance, setup, and operation of equipment.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Production Oversight:
    • Ensure production goals are met efficiently.
    • Suggest improvements in workflow or equipment use.
    • Monitor quality and safety standards (HACCP, USDA).
  2. Employee Supervision:
    • Train employees on safe work procedures.
    • Appraise, reward, or discipline employees.
    • Handle complaints and resolve conflicts.
    • Create shift schedules, manage breaks, vacations, and overtime.
  3. Safety & Compliance:
    • Maintain safety and ergonomic programs.
    • Follow SOPs, JSAs, and legal requirements.
  4. Communication & Reporting:
    • Set daily, weekly, and monthly goals.
    • Walk the floor to address questions or issues.
    • Conduct meetings and communicate with management.
    • Review timecards for payroll.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Education/Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in technical/management field or 3-5 years manufacturing experience.
    • 2 years of fresh pork production experience is preferred.
  • Skills Required:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication.
    • Ability to read and interpret manuals, safety documents, and instructions.
    • Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
    • Math skills for production metrics and statistics.
    • Computer skills, especially MS Office.
Physical Requirements:
  • Stand/walk for long periods.
  • Lift/move objects up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Work in cold/hot/humid conditions.
  • Be near moving machinery and sometimes tight spaces.
  • Good vision (including color and depth perception).
Work Environment:
  • Noise can be loud.
  • Can include exposure to fumes, vibration, or live animals.
  • Hours may vary depending on operational needs.
