School Based Therapist

Reports To: School Based Services Director or School Based Supervisor

Status: Exempt

Main Function: The School Based Therapist provides mental health and/or substance use services to clients within the Emerson-Hubbard School District, including emergency services. Also, this person provides consultation, education and prevention services to other agencies and individuals.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provides individual, family, and group counseling/therapy sessions as assigned.
  • Maintains up to date client charts to include assessment, social history, psychotherapy notes, treatment plans, screenings, and discharge plans.
  • Communicates with clients and their support systems to determine the family and community resources available and makes appropriate referrals.
  • Contacts parent/guardian upon initiation of therapy services and will provide ongoing updates as needed or if there is a safety concern.
  • Provides crisis intervention and assessment/evaluation, including after hours and on weekends.
  • Will be part of the on-call weekend rotation schedule to provide 24/7 crisis coverage.
  • Provides after hours coverage as needed for other programs/therapists within scope of practice.
  • Provides case consultation as needed.
  • Provides community education, prevention services, and public relations, as necessary.
  • Implements and documents new assessments, paperwork and screening tools as directed.
  • Completes all paperwork in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Attends supervisory and clinical staff meetings.
  • Attends school-based meetings including, but not limited to, 504's, IEP's, safety planning/re-entry meetings, and behavior meetings.
  • Attends required professional development training within the school.
  • Assists in quality assurance.
  • Meets expectations for monthly billable baseline.
  • Participates in a planning committee as assigned.
  • Participates in community events as assigned.
  • Provides services at other HCS locations as assigned, which may include travel to provide services.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Participates in collection of mental health and substance use information and student outcome data.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to work collaboratively with schools, families, and community partners.
  • Strong documentation, assessment, and clinical skills.
  • Ability to manage crisis situations and provide appropriate interventions.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and follow agency policies and procedures.
  • Ability to participate in required school-based trainings, including new teacher orientation/training if required by the district.

Licensure:

Must hold or be eligible for appropriate Nebraska licensure to provide clinical mental health services (e.g., PLMHP, LMHP, or LIMHP) through the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary: $55,000 annually
  • Fringe Benefits: 15% of salary
  • Sign-On Bonus: $10,000
  • Relocation Bonus: $2,500
  • Schedule: Work during the school year with the remainder of the summer off.
