The Minnehaha County Highway Department is excited to announce openings for several Highway and Bridge Maintenance Workers for this summer. This is an excellent opportunity to work outdoors with a schedule that allows for a great work-life balance!

• No previous experience? No problem! We provide all the training you need.

Work is performed Monday through Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., allowing you to enjoy Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays off. The selected candidates will be based out of the Highway Department facility located at 2124 E. 60th Street North. Dates of employment can be adjusted to fit your summer schedule!

Make an Impact:

As a member of our team, you will engage in various semi-skilled labor tasks, depending on your crew assignment. Duties may include:

• Flagging traffic
• Repairing fences
• Mowing and weed eating
• Asphalt paving and sealing
• General cleanup
• Delivering and loading/unloading materials

For bridge maintenance positions, your responsibilities will include:

• Deck repairs using tools such as jackhammers and concrete tools
• Cleaning debris near bridge structures
• Installing or repairing guardrails
• Sandblasting and painting steel girders and bridge elements

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be 18 years old by the date of hire.
• Valid driver's license is required.
• Ability to perform strenuous physical labor and lift up to 50lbs.
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Capable of following verbal and written instructions and keeping accurate records.
• Ability to work well with others and maintain professional relationships and demeanor.
