Forklift Driver

Palmer Candy is looking for a 2nd shift Forklift Driver at our Hwy 75 facility.

2nd shift will work Monday-Friday. Monday-Thursday hours are 5:00 pm- 3:30 am with Friday hours varying from 6 to 10-hour shifts. Saturday hours may be scheduled due to business needs.

Team Member's will be notified by plant management if schedules were to change outside of the times listed above.

The Forklift Operator supports production and repack operations by safely loading, unloading, transporting, and staging materials within the facility. Working within established company standards, this role ensures efficient material flow while maintaining a clean, safe, and high-quality work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate forklifts to load, unload, haul, and stage incoming and outgoing materials and finished products.
  • Safely load and unload materials from the warehouse.
  • Organize and maintain warehouse stock; deliver materials to designated departments or locations.
  • Prepare materials, products, and shipments for transportation.
  • Inspect equipment to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Perform routine cleaning and simple maintenance on equipment.
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts of materials and products.
  • Correctly record lot numbers, date codes, and other required shipment information.
  • Interact effectively with all functions within the plant and collaborate with individuals at all levels.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Work overtime as required.
  • Regular and timely attendance is required for this job.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or management.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 13 years of forklift experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to verbally communicate proficiently in English to effectively engage with internal teams. Applicant must be proficient in reading and understanding English-language manuals, equipment, instructions, and other documents relevant to the role.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with WMS and SAP systems (SAP experience preferred)
  • Experience using scanning guns or handheld inventory devices

Skills & Competencies:

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient with computers and digital systems
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities
  • Able to work independently, in a team, and under pressure

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 55 pounds occasionally and up to 28 pounds frequently, following proper lifting technique
  • Perform repetitive motions, including lifting, carrying, and handling materials, safely throughout the shift
  • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods and safely enter and exit forklifts
  • May be exposed to vibration, jarring, or sudden movements during loading and unloading of trailers
