Safety Operations Assistant

The Safety Operations Assistant will assist the South Sioux City site in achieving world-class safety performance through campaigns, training, and monitoring processes. The Safety Operations Assistant position will provide a direct link between management and associate/technician workforce regarding safety. The Safety Operations Assistant overall contribution will support efforts to reduce injuries and achieve the site's safety goals.

What you will do:

  • Lead by example in promoting a strong safety culture and zero-injury mindset.
  • Respond promptly to safety, health, and environmental concerns; assist with incident investigations and corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, ISO, GMP, and plant safety programs; support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate and deliver safety training, new hire EHS orientation, and corporate safety plan presentations.
  • Actively participate in emergency response (CPR, AED, First Aid) and industrial hygiene programs (noise monitoring, respirator fit testing).
  • Conduct safety inspections (LOTO, line breaks, powered vehicles, elevated work) and maintain records for Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
  • Support safety committees, update site safety communications, and review observations and near misses for action.

  • Physically capable of operating equipment, working at heights or confined spaces, and performing tasks requiring full range of motion.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in hot/wet environments while wearing appropriate PPE.

This pay rate is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Final base salary will be determined based on several factors which may include but are not limited to responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data and applicable bargaining agreement (if any).
