Assesses the needs of patients and families through the interpretation of written medical director protocols and creating an appropriate patient care plan within their scope of practice. Adapts and adjusts the patient's care plan according to the patient's needs in the prehospital setting and may serve as primary attendant of patient while on scene and/or during transportation. Prepared to physically intervene in potentially violent situations to provide patient care in accordance to departmental policies and procedures. Promptly completes documentation to assure an accurate legal record of patient's care. Carries out high quality patient care while following the scope of practice set out by the State of Iowa Public Health Department Bureau of EMS and this ambulance service.
