The General Maintenance position will perform general maintenance and repairs to the facilities, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, heating and cooling, etc.
Works with Facilities Management to develop and carry out special projects
Regularly utilizes general knowledge of the skilled trades to perform maintenance in the areas of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, heating and cooling, painting, plastering, machine servicing, and vehicle servicing
Operates and maintains an array of hand/power tools and equipment, such as a pallet jack, forklift, circular saw, drills, etc.
Responds to and completes daily work order requests involving all aspects of maintenance
Inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs property equipment to resolve mechanical issues in a timely manner
Installs new or repaired parts, appliances, machinery, or equipment
Performs landscaping and groundskeeping methods as necessary, such as snow removal, and ensures proper care of equipment
Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other woods structures, such as sheds and outbuildings
Maintain, repair and replace refrigeration, boiler and HVAC systems
Ensures all maintenance inventory, supplies, and equipment are maintained and properly stored
Properly uses materials and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure adherence to local, state, and national work safety regulations, including OSHA
Performs other related duties as assigned
Excellent verbal/written communication, problem-solving, and math skills
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
Proficiency in Microsoft applications and other necessary computer applications
Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals, documents, and drawings
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees, regulatory agencies, or members of the staff
Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions
High school diploma or equivalent, plus two to four years of relevant work experience OR
A satisfactory combination of work experience and education
Technical degree or apprenticeship program preferred
Working knowledge of the skilled trades and related safety codes

The employee may be required to crawl into awkward spaces, such as attics.
The employee may required to regularly lift 50 pounds and occasionally lift 75 pounds.
The employee may be required to work in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, and vibration.
The employee may be required to work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
