Position Title: Civil Engineer Project Manager

Reports to: Vice President of Engineering

Description:
The Civil Engineer Project Manager will lead and support development and management for a wide variety of projects mainly focusing on heavy civilengineering but also industrial facility design and construction.

Responsibilities/Duties

• Independently evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to development projects.
• Develop and manage project schedules, pay estimates, project procedures, staffing requirements, and equipment resources needed to complete accurate and timely project production.
• Ability to develop site designs that include calculations, research, layout with proper material selection and permitting.
• Oversee creation of surface models utilizing Civil3D and/or other similar design software. Including earthwork, hydrology and hydraulics, utilities, and roadway design.
• Support interdisciplinary design coordination to ensure that project elements are accounted for.
• Create preliminary design concepts and alternatives to support cost estimating.
• Attend project meetings and provide coordination to resolve design issues.
• Lead designers in the use of data driven design to make intelligent decisions on design solutions and processes.
• Provide mentorship to staff (EITs and technicians) to help them understand industry standards.
• Utilize knowledge of departmental design standards and applicable engineering codes to review prepared drawings and documents for conformance.

• Work closely with the construction field in a collaborative manner to ensure total project success.
• Negotiate change orders.
• Act as a liaison with the client and subcontractors to facilitate construction activities.
• Ensures supplies and equipment are ordered and delivered according to schedule.
• Obtain the proper permits and licenses from authorities for construction sites.
• Ensure project is completed in compliance with project documents and quality standards.
• Review and finalize project costs and adjustments upon project completion.
• Ensure Quality Control of services and deliverables are followed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in civil engineering, or other related discipline, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
• Professional Engineering license in the states of South Dakota, Nebraska and Iowa or the ability to receive a PE license is within 4 months through comity.
• Experience in environmental engineering (water/wastewater/solid waste) .
• Possession of a valid drivers license is required.
• Extensive knowledge of construction costs and engineering principles.
• Be able to work overtime as needed by the project.
• Ability to meet physical demands of the job: lift 50 pounds, standing for long periods of time.
• Willingness to travel to various locations and work in a variety of weather conditions.
