The Nutrition Assistant is responsible for determining Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program eligibility and certification following assessments of individual anthropometric, biochemical, and dietary data. The role involves providing nutrition assessment, education, referral, care coordination services, and tailoring WIC food prescriptions to meet individual nutrition needs. Promotion and support for breastfeeding women, their infants, and breastfeeding efforts are also part of the duties. Nutrition services will be provided to Maternal Child Adolescent Health and other SDHD public health programming.
Required qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, some post-secondary education or training in a health or nutrition field, minimum of two years of related work in a professional setting, mandatory Child and Adult Reporter Training, computer skills, a valid driver license, reliable transportation, and the physical ability to lift 50 lbs.
Candidates must successfully pass a background check, a physical exam, and drug screening test prior to employment.
