A role in Target's Food Supply Chain is a chance to truly serve our guests with speed, freshness and quality. We strengthen the efficiency of product delivery and partner across Target's Global Supply Chain to provide the highest quality food products to our guests – on time, every time. Here, your role might be extracting business insights from data, solving problem statements, conducting gap analysis, and recommending focus areas for leadership. Or you'll be an inventory management resource whose specialized point of view informs what we buy, from whom, how much and where it needs to go from there. You'll leverage inventory positioning to achieve the best possible product availability and establish and develop great relationships with our vendors to encourage on-time delivery. Or join our team in a food distribution center where you're on the very front lines of getting product to the guest as fast as possible—a critical differentiator that keeps Target guests coming back for more.

As Sr Logistics Analyst you'll be responsible for managing transportation optimization and conversion opportunities that deliver against business requirements for Food transportation. You'll establish and maintain great relationships with Inventory Management, Merchandising, Sourcing, SLM's and external business partners. Here, you'll be challenged to pivot from deep problem solving and providing data-driven recommendations to ensure flawless conversion opportunities. You will shape Target's We-Pay and Backhaul network and balance reliability, freshness and cost priorities as we set out to achieve the transformative goals we have in front of us.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute analysis and modeling to recommend most optimal freight term agreements and transportation mode strategies between vendors and Target (e.g., Prepaid, Collect, Backhaul, Truckload Ordering (TLO))

  • Maintain shared inbox and Smartsheet to manage and track new VIT submission forms

  • Analyze historical data and existing network to identify and implement more efficient and reliable transportation modes

  • Continuously improve optimization process, strategy and engagement model

  • Effectively manage internal partner and external vendor communication and lead successful onboarding

  • Serve as liaison and relationship owner between transportation and Inventory Management partners

  • Support Backhaul operational execution and troubleshooting in partnership with the field and HQ Routing and Optimization team

  • Negotiate business terms and conditions, manage Customer Pickup Agreements (CPU) in coordination with corporate legal partners

  • Analyze data to root-cause complex supply chain problems; develop and implement solutions to support internal and external partners

  • Build trust with key stakeholders to be able to navigate complex, conflicting and changing priorities

  • The Food First and Middle Mile network includes truckload, less than truckload and yard providers. The category contains volume that originates at domestic vendors, internal and external consolidation points with destinations across our 8 food distribution centers and both mainland and offshore stores.

About You:

  • 4-year degree or equivalent experience

  • 2+ years of transportation, inventory management, retail supply chain or operations experience

  • Demonstrated ability to lead a process, indirectly or cross-functionally influence others

  • Proven ability to build strong relationships and collaborate across functional areas

  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills to facilitate meetings and presentations

  • Innovative and growth mindset challenging the status quo, thinking about future state, and ability to operationalize from current to future state

  • Self-motivated and demonstrates initiative; demonstrates ability to work independently or in team environment

  • Strong project management skills

  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills

  • Advanced knowledge of Windows based applications (Excel, Word, PPT) required

  • Negotiation and transportation experience are valuable but not required

This position may be considered for a Remote or Hybrid (known internally at Target as "Flex for Your Day") work arrangement based on Target's needs.  A Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at a Target location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year.  A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member's core role may be performed either remote or onsite at a Target location depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day. Work duties cannot be performed outside of the country of the primary work location, unless otherwise prescribed by Target.
