SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director of Workforce Development provides leadership and oversees systems related to Career Services, Alumni, Internships, Non-Credit and Community Education, and Extension departments. Supervises the Project Directors of the Apex Accelerators and NICC Safe Driver Academy. Acts as a grant Program Manager for various grants, develops external partnerships, and manages division initiatives as directed by the President.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Supports and oversees internship and work-based learning programs, including monitoring and managing the Project Success Internship grant. Acts as faculty contact and supervises interns.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to identify workforce needs and develop relevant programs. Participates in advisory committees.
  • Supervises and mentors staff, conducts performance evaluations, and handles hiring and disciplinary actions.
  • Assists in developing non-credit and continuing education programs, including certificates and customized trainings, and oversees related grants.
  • Maintains records for workshops for BIE reimbursement and reporting.
  • Partners with external institutions to address workforce issues and develop solutions.
  • Develops departmental goals, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Provides career development resources and manages the virtual Career Services website.
  • Oversees grant programs and explores additional funding opportunities.
  • Represents the College professionally externally.
  • Participates in college governance and assessment activities.
  • Hosts transfer and career fairs.
  • Engages in professional development activities.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Communications, or related field required.
  • Preferred: Masters Degree in Business, Organizational Communication, or related field.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, COMPETENCIES, and ABILITIES:

  • Management experience (3 years preferred).
  • Proficiency in Office 365 tools.
  • Cultural competence in serving Indigenous and minoritized populations.
  • Skills in program development, process improvement, leadership, supervision, critical thinking, and problem solving.
  • Ability to develop positive relationships, work independently, multitask, and manage time effectively.
