Night Custodial Floater
Location: District
Hours: 3:00pm - 11:30pm

The Floater position is responsible for helping to cover District needs (vacations, projects, extra assignments, extended absences, etc.) without holding a "bid" shift. Floaters will have the potential to be assigned to any/all buildings and any/all shifts.

  • When there are no vacancies to cover, the Floater will be assigned work within the scope of the classification, subject to the Director's determination and directions.
  • This is for the Custodial classification only, no 'cross over' work will be shared with Maintenance.

Schedules: When covering planned/week long vacancies, scheduling would be in place for a minimum of a week at a time. Notice to change shift assignments would be required by Thursday of each given week (excluding holidays), for any changes to be effective the following week.
  • The "work week" is considered Monday-Sunday. This position/scheduling is not to imply a guarantee of hours on a daily or weekly basis.
  • FT assignment
  • Building/job assignments can be made on an as needed basis.
  • Shift starting/end times can be changed by up to +/- 8 hours, on a daily basis (as needed).

Pay Rate: Starting custodial rate
  • Can be assigned to work any shift, as needed.

Seniority: Original hire date will be used, as will be subject to benefits, NPERS, etc.
  • Floater must maintain in a Floater status throughout probationary period and for a total of up to 6 mos., before bidding on a new assignment.
